I
have a very limited number of birds
including black barless and black
spangle
swallows. My sincere thanks to Gloria
Weisgram and Bob
Benson
for these lovely birds! I also have
Russian
Novocherkasskes,
a
rare toy fantail breed. ( see photo on the
right )
The
bird's loft area is next to our deck and
garden so we can sit and
enjoy
watching these exotic pigeons raise their
babies and interact in
their
community life. My house pet bird is
a
black barless Silesian
Swallow
named "Sami". Swallows were
originally bred in free flying
flocks
where the most alert to danger were the
survivors. Consequently
they
are a rather flighty group. Sami, however,
has bonded to me and is
my
companion when I work in the studio.
He is very tame and trusting.
Here
is a photo of us at work together in the
studio where
he has his
favorite
perch and also my shoulder to hang out on.
Now lest you think
my
studio is rather dirty, Sami also dresses
very smartly in a multi
colored
bird
diaper ! (
